Connecticut's First Public Montessori School

At CREC Montessori Magnet School, we believe learning should be an exciting journey, not just a checklist of things to memorize. Our nurturing environment encourages curiosity, independence, and a love for learning. Accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale, we provide the same high-quality materials and certified teachers and staff as private Montessori programs. Here, children learn to think for themselves, follow their curiosity, explore with joy and purpose, and find the motivation to grow.  

While each of the classrooms has a unique spirit, all are grounded by the core goals of concentration, coordination, independence, and order. 

Students enjoy the freedom to choose activities that interest them, which helps them become more independent, curious, and confident. We guide and support them, but the goal is for students to take charge of their own learning. It’s a fun, hands-on way to learn that encourages creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork—skills that will last a lifetime!
